Legislated Committees are established under the Engineering Profession Act and its regulations to carry out specific regulatory responsibilities. Their mandates and decision-making authority are defined by legislation, giving members a direct role in protecting the public interest and maintaining confidence in the profession.

  • CEO Advisory Committees 
     

CEO Advisory Committees bring together volunteers with relevant experience and perspectives to advise the CEO on programs, professional issues, and organizational priorities. Through their recommendations and subject-matter expertise, members help shape informed decisions and strengthen Engineers Nova Scotia’s work. These committees do not exercise the statutory authority of legislated committees.

  • Youth Engagement Subcommittee — operates under the Student Affairs Committee 
  • Zone Representatives — integrated members of the Emerging Professionals Committee 
     

Committees of Council are established by and accountable to Council. Members support Council’s governance responsibilities by bringing focused expertise and informed recommendations to its work. These committees report through Council rather than serving as advisory bodies to the CEO.

Exceptions 
The Youth Engagement Subcommittee operates under the Student Affairs Committee. Zone Representatives participate as integrated members of the Emerging Professionals Committee rather than as a standalone committee. Both are included with the CEO Advisory Committees to show where these volunteer opportunities fit within the broader committee structure.
