Committee type: Legislated Committee

The Complaints Committee reviews concerns related to professional conduct and practice, supporting a fair and accountable process that maintains confidence in the profession. Volunteers bring careful judgment, objectivity, and a strong commitment to professional standards and the public interest.

Committee Information:

• Supported by the Chief Operating Officer and Association Staff
• Dedicated legal counsel participates in meetings and deliberations
• Monthly meetings alternate between hybrid and virtual formats
• Committee members act as Lead Reviewers for complaint files, requiring additional time commitment for assessment and investigation activities, in addition to meeting attendance
• 3-year terms with opportunities for reappointment, appointments endorsed by Council
• Must have a minimum of five voting members

Committee Responsibilities:

• Investigates complaints submitted to the Association regarding the conduct or professional practice of registrants
• Protects the public interest and maintain confidence in the engineering profession
• Maintains strict confidentiality regarding committee discussions and documentation

Requirements to Join:

• P.Eng. in good standing, 5 years engineering experience in Canada is recommended
• Must reside in Nova Scotia
• Prior regulatory volunteer experience recommended
• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint recommended
