Committee type: CEO Advisory Committee

This committee helps bridge the gap between engineering education and professional practice. Members work with universities, students, educators, and schools to increase awareness of engineering careers, support outreach initiatives, promote scholarships and awards, and encourage student engagement with Engineers Nova Scotia. It is a rewarding fit for engineers who enjoy mentoring, supporting education, and helping future professionals connect with the engineering community.

Committee Information:

• Supported by the Director of Professional Sustainment and Association Staff
• Hybrid meetings held monthly during the academic year
• Includes representatives from Nova Scotia's engineering schools  and student community, including:
  • Representatives from Associated University engineering faculties, including:
    •  Acadia University
    • Cape Breton University (CBU)
    • Dalhousie University
    • Saint Mary's University (SMU)
    • St. Francis Xavier University (StFX)
  • A student representative from the Dalhousie Engineering Undergraduate Society
  • The Chair of the Youth Engagement Subcommittee
• 3-year terms with opportunities for reappointment, student representative serves a 1-year term

Committee Responsibilities:

• Provide information about the engineering profession to students at all levels
• Help students understand the role of Professional Engineers and engineering regulators across Canada
• Committee members support the administration of:
  • Student awards programs.
  • Scholarship programs for students at various educational levels.

Requirement to Join:

• EIT or P.Eng. in good standing
• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint recommended
