Reinstatement (EIT)

New Online Application Portal Now Live
We’re excited to announce the launch of our new online application portal at https://portal.engineersnovascotia.ca  designed to streamline your application experience and improve system performance.
What’s New?
  • New Account Required: All applicants must create a new account to access and submit applications.
  • Simplified Workflow: The portal now directs users from our website to the IMS online application form, with improved navigation and form logic.
  • Application Types: The system supports multiple application types including EIT, assessment, reinstatement, and status changes.
  • Smart Filtering: Users will only see application options relevant to their profile, reducing confusion and errors.
  • Communication History: A new tab in the member portal tracks all communications related to your application.
Important Notes
  • If you had an open or incomplete application prior to October 6, 2025, you will need to start a new application in the updated system.

Formerly registered Engineers-in-Training (EITs) with Engineers Nova Scotia who wish to become Active again should apply for Reinstatement.

  • Once an application is complete, applicants can expect to receive a decision on their application within three weeks.
  • Applicants are encouraged to utilize the online application portal and the application status feature to monitor the status and processing time for their particular application.
  • Note: application processing time may vary based on office closures and staff availability/workload.

Inactive Applications

Applications that have been inactive (no communication or requirements being submitted) for six months or more may require a second application fee for continued processing.
