This is a computer based, closed-book exam on the ethics, obligations, and legal concepts that are part of practicing as a professional engineer. The Engineers Canada guideline Admission to the Practice of Engineering in Canada, states that, "applicants for licensure are required to pass an examination to confirm that they have sufficient knowledge of the ethical consideration and obligations that accompany the privileges of professional status, and the legal concepts relevant to professional engineering practice" before they can become licensed as professional engineers in Canada. It is recommended that you have 24 months of engineering experience before you take this exam. Answers to frequently asked questions concerning the NPPE Computer Based Testing can be found here - FAQ
