Exams

There are three categories of exams that may apply to applicants throughout their path to registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.

The Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE): This online exam is administered by NCEES and is not required for all applicants. More information can be found on the FE page.

National Technical Exams (NTE): These online exams are administered by Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) and are not required for all applicants. More information can be found on the NTE page.

National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE): This online exam is administered by Yardstick and is required for all applicants before they can be registered as a professional engineer in Canada. More information can be found on the NPPE page.

If you require special accommodations when taking exams, please submit your request via email to exams@engineersnovascotia.ca. Please note that confirmation from a medical practitioner may be requested.

Engineers Nova Scotia does not endorse and is not affiliated with any third-party exam preparatory organizations. Completion of any third-party prep course is done at the discretion of the candidate and there is no guarantee as to the appropriateness of the content or the level of preparedness it provides.
