Oct 1, 2026 12:00 AM

Engineers Nova Scotia has released interim guidance on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Engineering Practice to support engineers and engineers-in-training (EITs) in understanding their professional and ethical responsibilities when using AI in their practice.

The interim guidance outlines key considerations for registrants, including professional responsibility, competence, verification of AI-generated results, confidentiality, and the protection of the public. The use of AI does not replace professional judgment or existing professional obligations under the Engineering Profession Act and Bylaws and the Code of Ethics.

Registrants are encouraged to review the guidance to understand their responsibilities when using AI in engineering practice.
