Licensed Professional Planner Association of Nova Scotia (LPPANS)
What is the position?
LPPANS is a member-based organization for planning professionals operating in Nova Scotia. Our members work in the public and private sectors, in land use planning, environmental resource management, land development, heritage conservation, social planning, transportation planning, and economic development.
LPPANS is the official licensing body operating under the N.S. Professional Planners Act.
The primary purpose of the LPPANS Discipline Committee is to investigate, hold hearings and provide recommendations to the LPPANS Board on discipline matters relating to the LPPANS Code of Ethics and LPPANS Code of Conduct. The LPPANS Discipline Committee also works on related policy matters.

Commitment
Short term
Two-year term beginning in the fall 2025. The committee meets virtually on a monthly basis, at a lunch hour that is convenient to all members. There are also commitments to conduct research and work between meetings. The committee may meet more often if there is an investigation.

Position Details

Composition: The Discipline Committee consists of a minimum of 3 professional planners and one lay person.
Available Position: Lay person member
Remuneration: None
Term: Two years
Meeting Location: Most meetings are held online.
Meeting Frequency: As needed. Usually once a month unless an investigation or hearing is taking place.
