The Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration, in partnership with Engineers Nova Scotia, has launched a new initiative to improve safety on fishing vessels and wharves by establishing a list of licensed engineers qualified to inspect and certify hoists.

The initiative aims to support compliance with safety legislation and standards, reduce workplace injuries, and promote safer working conditions in the fishing industry. The certified engineers list will be published on the Fish Safe NS website, improving access to qualified inspection professionals across the province.
