Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations: Public Notice

NOTICE is hereby given that proposed amendments to the Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations (the Building Code) made pursuant to the Building Code Act, chapter 46, R.S.N.S., 1989, are anticipated to be prescribed by the Minister of Housing, to come into effect throughout the Province of Nova Scotia on or about February 1, 2026. The Government of Nova Scotia is considering proposed amendments to the Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations. Nova Scotians are invited to provide feedback on the proposed changes by 2 January 2026. 
 

The proposed amendments to the Nova Scotia Building Code Regulations establish evaluation services that can be relied on by building officials to assess new and innovative products, materials and systems for compliance to the National Building Code.
 

The amendments are proposed to come into effect on or after 1 February 2026.
 

How to participate

Nova Scotians are invited to review the proposed amendments and provide their feedback. The deadline for submitting your comments is 2 January 2026.
