Hall of Fame Inductee 2024: Dr. Paul Amyotte, P.Eng.
Dr. Paul Amyotte, P.Eng., a Distinguished Research Professor of Chemical Engineering at Dalhousie University, has been inducted into the Discovery Awards Nova Scotia Hall of Fame. Dr. Amyotte is a leading authority in process safety, particularly in risk assessment, risk management, gas and dust explosion, and human factors in hazard analysis. His pioneering work in dust explosion risk reduction and inherently safer design has set new standards in public and worker safety.
Dr. Amyotte's career is marked by significant contributions both nationally and globally. He has been a pivotal figure in high-profile safety proceedings, including investigations into the Westray Mine disaster in Nova Scotia and the Upper Big Branch Mine disaster in West Virginia. His expertise is sought after worldwide, reflecting his profound impact on the field.
