Dear Engineers Nova Scotia Registrants, Partners, and Stakeholders,

During the October President and CEO Townhall and Business Meeting, it was announced to our registrants that we would be releasing a publication of the Engineers Nova Scotia Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity, and Accessibility (EDIA) Handbook, a resource for our engineering community. As an Employer Partner with the Canadian Center for Diversity and Inclusion, we have collaborated with CCDI Consulting Inc, to create this Handbook.  CCDI Consulting Inc. has been at the forefront of supporting Canadian employers in addressing workplace EDIA challenges and employs a unique approach towards EDIA.

The document, which discusses EDIA terms, issues, and supporting actions, will allow the reader to strengthen their foundational knowledge. The Handbook is by no means exhaustive, but aims instead to create common, shared awareness that allows us to have meaningful conversation on EDIA issues, and allows us to assess policies and processes through an EDIA lens. It was produced to assist our volunteers, registrants, and partners to navigate their personal EDIA journeys.

Engineers Nova Scotia is happy to share this Handbook, and hope that it is helpful to you and your organization as you create and foster more inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible workplaces and futures. As always, we are happy to receive your feedback on the Handbook, and appreciate that as a living document it will be updated as our awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and expectations on EDIA issues evolve.
