The 48th Annual Acadia Engineering Students' banquet will be held from 6:00 to 9:30 pm on Thursday, March 14th in Acadia’s Sheldon L. Fountain Learning Commons on the Acadia campus.
The keynote speaker is Mike Sekerka, M.Eng, P.Eng, MBA (Chief Executive Officer, Neptec Technologies Corp.) Mr. Sekerka has over 28 years of experience in commercializing innovative technologies and launching new products into various markets. He has held roles in systems engineering, product management, project management, new product introduction and manufacturing operations in both start-up companies and large corporations. Mr. Sekerka started his career as an Aerospace Engineering Officer in the Canadian Air Force and has worked for companies such as DragonWave, Innovance Networks, Nortel Networks, and Cambrian Systems (acquired by Nortel) before joining Neptec Technologies Corp in June 2011. Mr. Sekerka holds engineering degrees in Engineering Physics from the Royal Military College of Canada and Electrical Engineering (Photonics) from McGill University, as well as an Executive MBA from the University of Fredericton. Mr. Sekerka is a licensed Professional Engineer and serves on the Academic Board of the University of Fredericton.
The evening will be attended by Acadia engineering students and faculty, Dalhousie faculty, Acadia alumni, and various other members of the engineering community and local businesses that employ Professional Engineers. The hope is that the banquet will facilitate the sharing of ideas, the commencement of lasting relationships with local engineers, and the inspiration for the next generation of Acadia’s Engineering graduates.
