CAHP Code Acceleration Fund Workroom
Oct 23, 2025 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
1660 Hollis Street, Halifax, NS
How can building and energy codes change to better suit existing buildings and help reduce carbon emissions?
Join us in Halifax this October for an engaging, collaborative Workroom hosted by CAHP, Giaimo, and Ha/f Climate Design.
This year’s CAHP Workroom will feature our ongoing project funded by the Government of Canada’s Code Acceleration Fund (CAF) and managed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan):
Existing Buildings, Carbon, and Building Codes
Date and Time:
Thursday, October 23 at 9am – 4pm in Halifax, NS
Held as part of the National Trust Conference in collaboration with the Canadian Association for Heritage Professionals (CAHP) and the Indigenous Heritage Circle (IHC).
What to Expect:
Begin the day with a light breakfast and a guided site tour of 1660 Hollis Street (Centennial Building), one of the three case studies featured in CAHP’s Codes Acceleration Fund project. Originally constructed in the 1970s as an office tower, the building was among Halifax’s first high-rises. It has recently been transformed into residential suites, while retaining a commercial podium by Sidewalk.
Following the tour, take part in a participatory Workroom session at the Halifax Convention Centre, where the project team will share progress on the report. Lunch will be provided.
The Workroom is a space for collaborative learning and forward-thinking discussion, open to all, including heritage professionals, architects, engineers, developers, energy specialists, planners, students, and anyone interested in shaping the future of our built environment.
Space is limited, register through the link below to be part of this important conversation.
