Wildfire Resilience Survey

Sep 2, 2025 - Oct 2, 2025

In order to mitigate and adapt to the risks climate-related hazards are bringing to homes and communities across Canada, the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction partnered with the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA), representing Canada’s residential construction industry. Together, they formed the Resilient Homes Task Force (RHTF), bringing together builders, industry experts, insurers, and researchers to turn proven ideas into practical building solutions.

The task force focuses entirely on new home construction, ensuring resilience is built in from the start rather than added later at greater cost. It aims to develop practical solutions for protecting homes from climate risks and is currently gathering insights from industry professionals on effective strategies for wildfire. Builders’ (e.g., builders, renovators, contractors, restoration contractors, landscape professionals, etc.) feedback will help to create useful checklists and resources for resilient building, ensuring that one’s home is given extra layers of protection, from design to furnishing. If you are directly involved in the design, construction, or repair of homes or properties (builders, renovators, contractors, restoration contractors, landscape professionals, etc.), please consider completing this survey.
