ON-SITE WASTEWATER DESIGN COURSE: LEVEL 1 QUALIFIED PERSONS (QP1)

The Centre for Water Resources Studies at Dalhousie University is soliciting interest for a Spring 2015 session of the course.The course combines classroom and field components that are expected to take place in the Halifax and surrounding areas.

 

Course Content

Policies, regulations, guidelines, and administrative procedures; insurance implications; site assessment; soil assessment; design principles; design of standard and alternative systems; materials and specifications; pumps; system construction, operation and maintenance; and management; assessment and remediation of malfunctioning systems, site assessment, soil assessment.

 

Credits

This course qualifies for 30 PDH’s under the Engineers Nova Scotia CPD program.

 

There is no formal requirement that a P.Eng/E.I.T. receive this training in order to become a QP1 if she/he is satisfied that they are competent, by training and experience, to undertake the design of on-site systems.  The course is being offered for those who want the training in order to enter this field of practice or to enhance their capabilities. 

As per the Regulations Respecting On-Site Sewage Disposal Systems, effective March 7, 2007, Section 25 (1)a states that to be on the list of qualified persons kept by the department, a level 1 qualified person (QP1) must be a professional engineer who is registered to practice in the Province.

 

Cost

The tentative registration fee for the course is $1,500 plus HST.
