What is entrepreneurship anyway? It’s a whole lot more than a great idea, some business skills and a giant pile of debt. It’s also not a profession – rather, entrepreneurship is a practice.  Join Emily for tales of entrepreneurship from the brewery floor and learn why entrepreneurship is a practice she returns to every day.  Hear how her entrepreneurship journey has empowered her to use her skills and talents to make change in her community, her industry and the way she sees the world.

Whether you are an intrapreneur or an entrepreneur, this session will explore how we can all apply the principles of entrepreneurship as a practice to bring more creativity, courage and purpose to our work.

Emily Cowin, P.Eng. is an engineer, entrepreneur, writer, yoga teacher and life coach from Shelburne, Nova Scotia.  Emily has over 20 years of experience as an engineer and since 2012 has spent much of her time building a business in rural Nova Scotia. Emily co-owns Boxing Rock Brewing Company, a business that, like all small businesses, is unique and complex and has required her to learn how to do things she never expected and solve problems that seemed insurmountable.  Emily is passionate about helping entrepreneurs and leaders learn how to surf the waves of (inevitable and constant) change and flourish in uncertainty. How? By treating entrepreneurship as a practice and approaching each day as an adventure. In her spare time she’s a hockey Mom, loves books and knitting, and practices writing and yoga every day.
