This workshop is an opportunity for the construction industry in Nova Scotia to start the conversation about what its really going to take to close the gender gap.

The truth is women cannot take on this issue alone. In this workshop, you will uncover the systemic issues that prevent women from rising to leadership. You will develop a plan to leverage the concept of sponsorship to achieve your career aspirations. Participants will also be equipped with resources to have a conversation with others in your organization about how all genders can better support women in the construction industry.

This workshop is designed to help women understand what drives their ambition, find ways to fuel it, and overcome what gets in the way.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Start to understand the reasons why the gender gap exists;

  • Unpack what drives your ambition and find ways to fuel it;

  • Explore what holds you back and develop strategies to overcome these barriers;

  • Develop strategies to get out of the grind so you can see opportunities and feel ready to take action;

  • Discover how to amplify your influence to get results for your organization;

  • Understand why the gender gap exists and why women cannot solve this issue alone.

After the session, you will have:

  • A better understanding of your own capabilities;

  • An ability to see the bigger picture and plan to create opportunities for yourself;

  • Strategies to find advocates inside your organization to help you achieve your career ambitions”

  • Practical tools that you can share with others in your organization to start a Diversity and Inclusion conversation.
