CLEANGREEN SEPTIC SERVICES INC.

Lead Process and Technology Development Engineer

Nova Scotia  |  Full-time  |  Hands-on technology development & commercialization

THE OPPORTUNITY

CleanGreen is developing an innovative approach to domestic septage management, combining truck-mounted dewatering with centralized processing to recover water, concentrate solids and create beneficial-use products. As we move from pilot testing to commercial operation, we need an engineer who wants to build and improve the technology—not simply manage an established process.

THE ROLE

Lead practical engineering development across our mobile dewatering systems and processing facility. You will work alongside operators, fabricators and suppliers: designing trials, troubleshooting equipment, analyzing performance and converting successful experiments into reliable, economical commercial processes. This is an equipment- and plant-floor-focused role, not primarily a desk or people-management position.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Improve mobile dewatering performance: throughput, solids capture, cake dryness, polymer use and filtrate quality.
  • Develop and optimize plant processes including solids handling, stabilization, pathogen reduction, water treatment and odour control.
  • Plan and run trials; collect samples, interpret laboratory and operating data, and document results.
  • Translate testing into process designs, mass balances, equipment specifications, controls, operating parameters and commissioning plans.
  • Work directly with trades, operators and technical partners to diagnose problems and implement equipment improvements.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Engineering degree in chemical, mechanical, environmental, process, biosystems or a related discipline; approximately 5–10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated success in process development, experimentation, optimization and hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Practical knowledge of pumps, piping, mixing, separation equipment, instrumentation and process data.
  • Curious, resourceful and comfortable moving between engineering analysis and working directly with equipment.
  • Professional Engineer registration (or eligibility) in Nova Scotia is required.

WHERE WE MAY FIND YOU

Direct septage experience is not required. Relevant backgrounds include industrial water/wastewater, biosolids, food and beverage, pulp and paper, mining, chemical or agricultural processing, solid–liquid separation and pilot-plant development.

WHY CLEANGREEN

You will help shape the design, operating standards and future generations of a new processing platform. The challenge is to take an imperfect prototype, learn from real operating data and make it work repeatedly at commercial scale.
