The Manager of Engineering Services will provide leadership and strategic advice in the areas of infrastructure, engineering, capital asset management, municipal water distribution & treatment, wastewater collection & treatment, drainage systems and street/sidewalk maintenance.

Primary Responsibilities
- Support and facilitate the Municipality’s Capital Program for wastewater collection and water distribution systems, roads, stormwater, sidewalks, trails, facilities and building infrastructure, including;
- Budgetary planning, procurement, preparation of tender specifications and engineering drawings, contract awards, construction administration and related Council reporting.
- Project management.
- Development of engineering plans and tender specifications for capital projects.
- Develop asset management plans and long-term budget forecast.
- Administer Operating Program for EPW’s Infrastructure, including;
- Leading a team of unionized staff, providing coaching, work/training plan development and performance management.
- Facilitate the Municipality’s Road & Sidewalk, Building and Facilities maintenance programs.
- Provide technical and engineering advice relating to projects/operations to Municipal Council and Committee of the Whole.
- Provide engineering advice and recommendations to internal Municipal departments.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
- B.Sc or M.Sc Engineering (Civil or Environmental discipline preferred).
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineers NS.
- 5 years of experience related to municipal engineering and infrastructure is required.
- Experience in municipal government setting would be considered an asset.
- Experience with project management and procurement would be considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge and experience in construction project management.
- Experience with engineering design.
- Experience motivating, coaching and developing team members.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
- Superior organizational, analytical, research, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time non-unionized position. Compensation includes a competitive salary and a benefits plan. Salary will be at the Managers salary range of $97,898 - $125,581. Regular hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm. Some evening hours will be required.
