The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads and supports the Manufacturing Engineering team in driving operational excellence. This team is responsible for monitoring production performance, reviewing customer requirements, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products meet quality standards, delivery timelines, and cost objectives. The Manager embraces a culture defined by safety, quality, teamwork, and accountability.
In this role you will:
· Lead, develop, mentor, and support a team of Manufacturing Engineering staff.
· Develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes and procedures to optimize production efficiency, quality and safety.
· Support the maintenance and onboarding of equipment, technologies, and automation systems to enhance manufacturing capabilities and efficiencies.
· Work with cross-functional teams, including Production, Programs and Quality to establish and maintain configuration control of manufactured products.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development Engineering, Production and Quality, to implement new products or processes.
· Engaging with customers, suppliers and other Stelia leadership to resolve technical or manufacturing issues, while considering the operational need to maintain workflow continuity.
· Manage staffing levels to support site growth and program budgets.
· Drive process improvements and cost savings through manufacturing metrics and utilizing a continuous improvement mentality.
· Generation and/or review of procedures (e.g., work instructions, inspection test plans, calibration, and material testing procedures) as needed.
· Support new business proposals and program start ups.
· Liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements.
· Provide technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues, troubleshoot problems and optimize production results.
You have:
· University degree in Engineering / Science or equivalent experience
· Licensed or eligible for licensure as a professional engineer (or engineer-in-training) with Engineers Nova Scotia.
· 5+ years’ experience leading people or functions.
· 5+ years’ experience in an aerospace, defence, or related manufacturing environment, with experience in AS/EN 9100, ISO 9001 or NADCAP an asset
· Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies, six sigma certification an asset
· In depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, finish application, machining and fabrication. Experience in tool design and composite processing an asset
· Strong knowledge and experience of problem solving (e.g., root cause analysis, 5 Whys)
· Action-oriented and willing to challenge status quo.
· Strong decision-making skills and result-driven (safety, quality, cost) approach
· Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
· Ability to interact professionally with a diverse groups and department.
· Proficient in M365 and ERP software
· Emotional intelligence skillset to connect authentically, communicate effectively, and thrive collectively on a daily basis and lead change in the workplace.
