Colleen Rollings, P.Eng., FEC, PMP, Principal Project Manager of H3R Inc. and Engineer-in-Residence at Dalhousie University, Faculty of Engineering will present on her experience supporting the ongoing innovation occurring at IWK Health, including management of a $6.9 million MRI redevelopment project with hospital grade infection control and safety protocols over a 2-year time frame. Colleen will describe the details of this complex construction project to build a new suite for the MRI equipment and the collaboration with the Dalhousie Engineering Capstone Program.

Tanya Davis, P.Eng., PTOE, Program Manager for Strategic Transportation Planning, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) will present on the Integrated Mobility Plan, Halifax’s first land use and transportation master plan. The Integrated Mobility Plan (www.halifax.ca/integratedmobility) was adopted by the Halifax Regional Council to change the approach to how residents move in the municipality. It creates a regional vision for mobility and helps to direct future investment in transportation demand management, active transportation, transit, and the roadway network. This presentation will cover how mobility has changed in Halifax since the adoption of the plan, why this change is important and the part it plays in our Climate Mitigation Strategy – HalifACT 2050.

Eva Parada, P.Eng., Senior Manager Infrastructure, Develop Nova Scotia will present on Develop Nova Scotia’s work with the community of Peggy’s Cove to co-create a comprehensive master plan to address the significant challenges caused by the popularity of one of Nova Scotia’s most iconic attractions. Problems with traffic congestion and circulation, servicing, accessibility and safety, and pedestrian infrastructure are all negatively impacting visitor experience and residents’ quality of life. The presentation will provide an overview of the project and how Develop Nova Scotia has been able to harness the knowledge, creativity, and lived experiences of Peggy’s Cove residents to solve problems and innovate in a truly collaborative way.
