Energy Advisor Training Workshop

Attendees will learn the foundational skills required to become an energy advisor or to better integrate residential energy efficiency considerations into their business activities. The workshop will focus heavily on HOT2000 energy modelling and plan/site data collection activities. Attendees will be provided with the study materials required to take NRCan’s Foundations and Energy Advisor Exams, along with an energy advisor training copy of HOT2000.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Building science
  • Residential energy modelling;
  • HOT2000 energy modelling and the EnerGuide Rating System;
  • Plan and building takeoffs;
  • Onsite data collection requirements;
  • Blower door testing;
  • Conducting an existing house energy audit;
  • Completing a new construction design evaluation; and
  • Quality assurance requirements.

About the trainer: Jordan MacDonald is the President of ThermalWise and has worked in the residential energy-efficiency sector for over 11 years. He has worked extensively with the EnerGuide Rating System and related residential software and services. He regularly conducts training courses for builders, designers and policy makers. He is an active member of ASTM Committee E06 on the Performance of Buildings. He is a Certified Passive House Consultant, Registered Energy Advisor and a past board member of the Atlantic Chapter of the Canada Green Building Council.
