Spotlight on Local Innovation Dinner

Join Engineers Nova Scotia for our Spotlight on Local Innovation on Thursday, March 1st, 2018, to celebrate National Engineering Month by highlighting interesting projects and research led by engineers in Nova Scotia. This event will be held at the Prince George Hotel in Halifax. 

This signature event will include a three course meal with wine, three dynamic presentations and an opportunity to connect with other members and students. The reception begins at 5 PM, dinner will be served at 6 PM.

The cost to attend is $40, please use the online registration system to reserve your seat, there are limited tickets available. If you or your company are interested in sponsoring a table of 10, these can be purchased for $500 by contacting Beth@engineersnovascotia.ca. Sponsors will be recognized in our publications and during the event.

Our presentations this year will be: 

Victoria Fernandez, P.Eng., presenting on alternative nature-based shoreline concepts which are founded on principles of environmental conservation, accounting for the anticipated effects of climate change, and enhancing community oriented shoreline features, known as “Living Shorelines”. Her presentation will include two projects, in Mahone Bay and the Northwestern Arm.

 

Joy Brake, P. Eng., a Specialist Engineer with Emera Newfoundland and Labrador, has been the Integrating Lead for the Maritime Link Project for the last 5 years. She will be presenting on her work overseeing the design of the Maritime Link control systems and integration of the project onto the existing AC grids in both provinces.

 

Emily Tipton, P.Eng., a chemical engineer and co-founder at Boxing Rock Brewing Company, will share with us the back story of Boxing Rock Brewing Company, an engineered solution to rural economic development in southwestern Nova Scotia, and proof that engineers make great entrepreneurs.
