A presentation by April Howe on how ones words and actions can be perceived in an interview setting and how to best discuss and position yourself in these high-pressure situations.

 

Presenter's Bio:

April is a Partner & Practice Leader for Career Transition with Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette and has practiced in the field of consulting, coaching, and facilitation for more than 15 years. She has played an instrumental role in developing the firm's Career Solutions practice, and establishing the firm as a leader in Atlantic Canada. In addition, April provides Professional Skills Development workshops in the Sobey School of Business MBA programs. 

April is completing an Executive Masters in Business Administration at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University.  With her training and experience in Facilitation, Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Management she has the ability to recognize needs and provide solutions and leadership during critical transition phases for organizations and individuals alike.

April became certified as a Career Coach in 2008 and is a member of the International Coaching Federation, Nova Scotia Chapter. She held marketing and senior administrative roles within the federal government, recruitment, and communications sectors.

An active community member, April sits on the Board of Directors of the United Way Halifax Region and the Board of the Halifax Partnership. In addition, she is a Director on the Board of the Black Business Initiative. Formerly, April was Chair of the Africville Heritage Trust and served as HR Chair on the Board of Dress for Success. Involved with the Co-operative Housing sector for over 15 years, April served on the Board of a local 60-unit housing co-operative and on the Cooperative Housing Federation of Canada's Diversity Committee representing Atlantic Canada. As a mentor to young professionals, April provides advice and guidance to soon-to-be leaders in the community.
