Presenter: Raymond Lennark, P.Eng., F.I.C.E.

 

Topic:

This presentation, based on some 50 years of experience in the construction industry in Canada and overseas, addresses developments from the high risk situations of the 60’s and 70’s to the significantly more safety conscious environment prevailing today.

 

 

Bio:

Raymond is a retired Civil Engineer with over 50 years experience.

Over the years he has worked in roles such as Project Manager and Contracts Manager with close involvement in safety.

He has written for Professional Engineers Nova Scotia, UK Institution of Civil Engineers, “Water Power and Dam Construction” magazine among others.

Work experience includes projects in Canada, UK, Germany, Asia, Africa and South America. Projects have included roads and bridges, industrial plants, offshore oil and gas, mining, nuclear, dams/hydroelectric and thermal energy projects. Projects in Canada have included locations in Nova Scotia, Labrador, western Canada and remote northern sites with opportunities for First Nations.

Having been active in construction since the 1960's he has seen and participated in significant improvements in site safety over the years and will illustrate with examples, anecdotes and dramatic improvements in safety statistics.
